CE marking is still a complicated adventure for most companies. Through our years of experience we have seen that it is actually not that bad. But yes, we do nothing else than draw up CE files.

Of course, you will have to invest time in it, but such templates often make it easier to build a logical file that you can then maintain yourself.

What does CE marking cost?

At Euronorm we deal with CE marking, from lighting products to machines and from toys to complex ( industrial) installations.

If you also have trouble drawing up a CE file for your product, we can help you with that. But what does CE marking cost?

You can imagine that we need more time for a complex product than for a simple product. For example, if it concerns toys, we often need about half a day to a whole day to draw up the CE file. Lighting often takes us a day and with machines it depends on what kind of machine it is. In such cases we need more information to be able to say something sensible about it.

Our online courses are often experienced as practical. In addition, you can follow them 24/7 and stop in between whenever you want. And, if you know enough, you can take the test and after passing the test you will receive a certificate.

In addition, our online courses are also much more visually designed than traditional courses. For example, there are many more photos and videos than usual. Logically, because you can often get the message across better with that.

Of course we still give courses 'in real life' and the advantage of that is that you have direct contact with the participants and can also respond to the questions that the participants have. You can never achieve that advantage with online courses.

The problem is often that a company cannot free up everyone who needs to follow a certain course and then an online course can offer the necessary advantages. Not only financially but also in terms of planning.

If you have multiple employees who need to take multiple online courses, a company login is often useful.

We then create a separate company login where we place the courses of your choice.

We also set the email address where the participants' certificates should be sent to, so that they end up in one place.

It works simply.

1. You indicate which courses should be added to the login.
2. We will create the login and send you the login details.
3. You email these login details to the participants.
4. After passing the test, you will then see the certificates appear in your mailbox and you can easily keep track of who has taken which course.

That saves a lot of administrative hassle.

The new Machinery Regulation will come into force in 2027.

Apart from some shifts in paragraphs without too many substantive changes, there are also changes to the following requirements:

1. While the Machinery Directive speaks of 'Machinery', the Machinery Regulation speaks of: 'Machinery or related product'. That sounds a bit official to the ears but it does cover the scope a bit better, we have to admit. After all, lifting equipment also falls under the Machinery Directive but can not really be seen as a 'machine'.
2. There are more possibilities for digitally providing the user manual. Often 'the user manual' is a headache for many companies and there are now (finally) possibilities to provide this digitally, via QR code. As usual, there are some catches.
3. The list of 'dangerous machines' is split in two. If your machine is on one list, a Notified Body must be called in and if the product is on the other list, that is not (anymore) necessary.
4. Also, as expected, the necessary security requirements have been added that also need to be assessed. For example, think of the security of that 'wireless' connection in the case of network connections. Many such requirements have been added.
5. The concept of 'unfinished machine', which is still a source of much discussion, has also been better defined.
6. Requirements have also been added to the paragraph on 'market participants', you know, the obligations of the importer, distributor and manufacturer.
7. And the EC Declaration of Conformity is now called: EU Declaration of Conformity for completed machinery and EU Declaration of Incorporation for partly completed machinery.
8. For example, a declaration of a hoist or lifting machine that is installed at the customer's premises must also include the customer's address on the declaration.

We still come across work equipment that is provided with an inspection sticker that makes you wonder why this equipment was inspected at all. What risk can this equipment pose?

If this sounds familiar to you, please take a look at the Working Conditions Decree, specifically at article 7.4. a, paragraph 3/6, which states (freely translated) that work equipment must be periodically inspected if it could pose a risk due to, for example, wear and tear or ageing.

Literal text: 'A work tool that is subject to influences that lead to deterioration which could give rise to dangerous situations is inspected as often as is necessary to guarantee its good condition, and is tested if necessary'.

We always use this as a criterion for customers where a lot of equipment needs to be inspected. Then it is useful to make a substantiated selection of which equipment you will include in the inspection and which not.

If in doubt, perform a risk analysis and draw a conclusion based on that as to what should and should not be included in the inspection.

We still come across crazy requirements that supposedly should be on the inspection form. From the signature of the 'inspector' to the serial number of the measuring instrument. But what is true?

The Working Conditions Decree states the following about this, I quote: ' Written evidence of the inspections carried out must be available at the workplace and must be shown to the supervisor upon request'.

If we read it correctly, the legislator does not impose any substantive requirements on the reporting, only that it must be there and that, if the supervisor (Labour Inspectorate) asks for it, you must be able to show it.

It goes without saying that it must be clear which inspection report belongs to which piece of equipment.

We are also in favor of the inspection points on the report on which the product was inspected being stated, but we certainly cannot substantiate this on the basis of 'the law'.

From an auditor, if you have included such inspections in a quality system, for example, then the auditor can of course demand all sorts of things. If you have difficulty with certain requirements, always ask where this can be found in the law or in a standard.

In our working lives we often draw up explosion safety documents. Often there is already something of an EVD present but all too often we do not see clear results or conclusions.

In fact, an EVD should show what the zoning looks like and what organizational and technical measures have been taken. In addition, the personnel working in certain zoning should receive instructions.

Of course we can revise or update your EVD or completely re-draft it, but we also have an editable template in the shop that can serve as a basis for drawing up the EVD yourself.

In some cases an installation needs to be brought 'into LOTO'. For this you need to take a number of steps starting with 'making the installation energy-free'. Then you check if the energy is gone (Try Out) and we need to lock this (Lock Out) and place a label (Tag Out) so that it is also clear to everyone that this is being worked on.

We still come across a lot of LOTO materials that fit American installations, which are of little use here and it seems to be difficult to make the right choice of what is practically usable and useful.

We have therefore made a selection of materials that are usable.
